The SandCheck Valve Rod Guide is engineered to control solids around the valve rod and guide interface. By actively removing and redirecting particulates, it helps reduce rod loading, prevent wear, and extend run time in high solids conditions.
SandCheck Valve Rod Guide
The SandCheck Valve Rod Guide is designed to address the impact of solids on valve rod and guide performance in high concentration environments. In systems with frac sand, formation fines, or other particulates, solids can enter the space between the rod and guide, leading to increased rod loading, guide wear, and damage to tubing.
The SandCheck uses three internal 360° radial spiral grooves to wipe solids from the valve rod during the upstroke. This prevents particulates from entering and accumulating within the guide interface, reducing wear and maintaining smoother operation.
If smaller particles enter the guide area, they are redirected into radial groove channels and routed out through the exit passage at the top of the guide neck. In more demanding applications, an optional carbide sleeve can be incorporated to provide additional strength and protection in high-wear zones.
The patented Cyclone Floating Sleeve feature helps reduce wear and prevents solids from bridging between the rod and guide. Radial flutes create a controlled flow path that induces rotational movement, keeping solids suspended and moving upward through the tubing.
This cyclonic action helps prevent solids from settling near the pump and reduces the likelihood of particulates being pulled back into the barrel. When the well is not in operation, the SandCheck design redirects settling solids away from the inlet, reducing accumulation and protecting the pump during restart conditions.
