Solid Control
Dual 92 Plunger
The Dual 92 Plunger is designed to manage sand, grit, iron sulfide, and other damaging solids within downhole pump assemblies. With a hardened construction and integrated groove design, it supports consistent operation while reducing wear in high solids environments.
Dual 92 Plunger
The Dual 92 Plunger is designed to address the impact of solids accumulation within downhole pump systems. In conventional plunger and barrel assemblies, small clearances allow fluid bypass, but also create a space where sand, formation fines, and other particulates can collect. Over time, this buildup leads to vertical scoring, accelerated wear, and increased stress across the pump and rod string.
The Dual 92 Plunger introduces a hardened construction, rated between 92R and 98R, combined with a grooved design that allows solids to pass through the system rather than accumulate between critical surfaces. This reduces friction and helps prevent the damage that commonly leads to stuck pumps, automatic shutdowns, and rod string failure.
During operation, entrained particulates are directed inward through axial evacuation ports and into the center of the plunger, where they are carried into the tubing with produced fluids. Solids are also collected during the upstroke and redirected during the downstroke, supporting continuous removal from high-wear areas.
When used in conjunction with the Cyclone System, the Dual 92 Plunger contributes to rotational flow of fluids and particulates. This promotes more uniform wear across the barrel and plunger surfaces, extending pump life and improving overall efficiency. When the pump is not in operation, settling solids are redirected away from sensitive areas, helping reduce the risk of stuck plungers during startup.
For optimal performance, the Dual 92 Plunger is recommended as part of the complete Eagle Cyclone Pump System.
